How to order

Browsing the Online Store

  1. Your main guide to browsing the online store is to use the main navigation menu, which has the names of the different product categories (Men, Women, Home etc).
  2. To reach the landing page for each category, click on the title of that category. For example, to reach the Women's landing page, click on 'Women' in the main menu. Once you reach a landing page, you can click on the small pictures under 'Browse categories' to reach a listing of products under that category.
  3. You can also reach the product listing page by hovering your cursor over a category name in the main navigation menu, and clicking on one of the items in the dropdown menu.
  4. Each subcategory of products can be sorted based on price, name and how long the product has been on the site. Once you see an individual item in this menu you may click on that item to get more product details, color swatches and closer images.
  5. The top of each product page has a trail, or breadcrumb, which shows where you have been. To return to a previous page or subcategory, you can click on this trail which will bring you back. You can also go to the top Navigation Bar to move to a different product category.

Setting up an Account

  1. In order to add items to your shopping cart and make a purchase, you do not need to establish an account , though you can enjoy value added features by creating your own account on http://southasiaartisans.com .
  2. To set up an account, go to My Account.
  3. You can also continue shopping as a Guest Shopper, and during checkout you will have the option of signing up for a new account.

Adding Items to your Shopping Cart

  1. When you are ready to add an item to your shopping cart, you need to enter the color, size (if these attributes are appicable) and quantity. Then click on the Add to Cart button.
  2. A small box will appear asking you want to proceed to checkout or continue browsing. The blue button will allow you to continue shopping, the orange button will proceed straight to the checkout process. If you change your mind and want to continue browsing you may do so at any moment during the checkout process.
  3. You can continue to add items to your shopping cart until you are ready to Checkout.

Reviewing and Changing the items in your Shopping Cart

  1. You can review and/or change the items in your shopping cart at anytime.
  2. To delete an item, simply click on the Remove link.
  3. To change the quantity, simply change the quantity and click on the Update Shopping Cart button.
  4. Your order value will be recalculated each time you change the quantity and click update.
  5. Once you are satisfied with your order, you can start the checking out process by clicking on "Proceed to Checkout" on the Shopping Cart page. This takes you to the Checkout page.

Checking Out

  1. On the Checkout Page, you can choose to checkout either as a guest, or as a registered customer. To checkout as a registered customer, click on the "Already registered? Click here to login." link at the top of the page. Login to your GRAM account if you have one, or create a new account in the pop window that appears.
  2. If you checkout as a registered customer, and you have entered billing and shipping addresses for your account, these will be populated in the Billing Address and Shipping Address sections of the page. If you choose to checkout as a guest, you will need to enter this information yourself.
  3. Please note you cannot ship to a Post Office Box.
  4. Once you enter your billing and shipping addresses, you can choose to add a gift message in the "Shipping Info section", and special instructions for delivery in the "Review your Order section".
  5. Please review all details closely and then click on the orange "Place Order" button to confirm your order.
  6. You will be redirected to our secured payment gateway, CCAvenue
  7. Enter your credit or debit card information or choose your bank for netbanking transactions, and click "Submit" along the bottom of the page.

AtGRAM , our aim is to ship our products in a quick, safe and inexpensive manner. We deliver to 130 countries worldwide, and to 511 destinations within India.

Processing your order

We try our best to ship goods to you as soon as possible. On an average, it takes us about 5 business days to ship goods out of our warehouse in Delhi. However if the quantities ordered are more than 5 pieces per product per style, or if the item ordered is under production, it may take longer to process your order. Should this happen, we will keep you informed by email.

Customs and international shipping

All of GRAM orders are shipped internationally from our warehouse in New Delhi, India to your provided shipping address via DHL. Due to the nature of international shipping, occasionally a customer may have to pay additional import duties and taxes which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. The large majority of orders will not have to pay any additional fees. However, we are unable to calculate when and how much these infrequent customs duty charges will be levied. In the case where additional customs charges are assessed, you will be responsible for paying these additional fees. To make your shopping experience as seamless as possible, we have arranged with DHL to customs clear your goods for you and deliver them to your doorstep. If you are presented with an invoice from DHL for import duties and taxes, you will have to pay DHL directly at the time of delivery.

This value added feature is available for all our Registered Users. Once your have placed your order with GRAM online, we will keep you updated on the status of your order up to dispatch, through your GRAM account.

On dispatch of your order you will receive your Tracking Number from Blue Dart for domestic (within India) and UPS for International destinations by email.

Track your shipment

You should have received your tracking number via email. Please note that you will not be able to track your package until we have handed the package over to UPS or Bluedart and thus have not given you an air waybill no. It takes us 5 working days to process your orders.

All of our international shipments are handled by UPS. You can track your order now by entering your UPS Tracking Number in the field provided.

Before you return a GRAM product, please take a moment to understand how our products are made. All our products are handcrafted by traditional craft persons in rural India, resulting in each product being unique and slightly different from each other.

Let's not think of an irregular weave or print or a stitch as a defect. Handloom by definition means a glorious uncertainty when it comes to uniformity

In spite of these variables, at GRAM we stand behind the quality of our products and we will replace the product free of cost if you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason.   • Items which are to be exchanged need to be sent to the addresses given below within 30 days of receiving the goods.
  • A Returns & Exchanges Form should be completed and sent along with the goods. You can download the Returns Form by Clicking Here.
  • GRAM will replace the items free of cost or issue a full refund if we have sent you a wrong item (wrong colour or size). Shipping charges for the replacement will not be billed to the customer.
  • If you would like to exchange any item, GRAM will replace the returned items free of cost and issue a refund for the cost of the goods to the credit /debit card used for online shopping. However, shipping charges would not be refunded. On receipt of the wrong product at our return address, you would need to place a fresh order for the correct item.
  • Shipping charges will not be refunded and customers are required to pay for the shipping costs to return the goods to the applicable return address indicated on the Return & Exchange form.
  • Claiming Refunds

    For Credit Card/Debit Card/Netbanking or Paypal Transactions: As the charge to your credit card / account would have already been done online at the time you made the purchase and authorized the payment we will provide a refund to your account via the CCAvenue Payment Gateway or Paypal if applicable as per the situations given below.

    If applicable, refunds would be made for the cost of the goods to the credit /debit card used for online shopping. However, shipping charges would not be refunded except where GRAM has erroneously sent you a wrong item / colour / size.

    For COD (Cash on Delivery) Transactions:

  • Refunds can only happen via Gift Vouchers.
  • Cash Refunds are not allowed for COD orders since we cannot get deliver cash through couriers.
  • The customer can ship the product in case he or she receives a damaged or defective product. Customer can also place a request for a reverse pick up incase reverse pick up service is available through our couriers.
  • Refunds will be done in the following cases:

  • Genuine sizing issues, only for unused garments. Please review our size guides carefully before making your purchase.
  • Genuine quality issues.
  • Packages lost in transit.
  • In case GRAM discovers any mispricing in its online catalogue and the price charged to you is higher than the actual price.
  • In case GRAM discovers that a wrong item has been shipped to you.
  • In case the customer is not happy with the purchase and has returned the item/items to the address mentioned above. In such cases the filled return form should be included in the return shipment.
  • No refunds will be given in the following cases:

  • In case of minor design and colour variations. With handloom products there will always be some variation between products.
  • Incorrect or outdated delivery address.
  • Incorrect address format including any form of a PO Box address.
  • After 3 failed delivery attempts by the courier.

    About our Products

    Where are your manufacturing facilities located?

    GRAM does not have a company owned production unit. Our mission has always been to work with village-based artisans across India employing their regional textile skills and specialities. This commitment has helped preserve the traditional crafts of India and created employment opportunities in rural areas.

    Are all GRAM products handmade?

    We try to maximize the handmade process, using hand-woven, handblock-printed fabrics and vegetable dyes as far as possible. If a power loom is used, the fabric is decorated using hand processes such as block printing, embroidery, embellishing etc.

    Do GRAM sizes conform to international norms?

    There are no true international norms for clothing and home textiles as every company tends to have its own sizing standards. Please refer to our Size Guide where we have suggested basic guidelines of how GRAM sizing compares to other international sizing. The best approach is to take your own measurements and compare these to our measurement charts.

    What are the advantages of handloom fabrics?

    The handloom process and techniques of production gives the textile a unique character. In addition, handloom fabrics breathe well, are cool in summer and retain body warmth in the winter.

    You can view your order status at any time once you have placed your order, through My Orders options after logging in to your GRAM account on GRAM website. We try and dispatch all the orders from our warehouse within two working days and then you can track your order from Track your order option on the homepage of http://southasiaartisans.com through the UPS tracking system.

    What if an item is out of stock?

    We make every effort to keep all products in stock. However, there may be times when unexpected demands exceed our supply. In the future, we hope to be able to notify you when an out of stock item becomes available which would allow you to place a new order for this product.

    How long will it take to receive my order?

    In case of International deliveries your order will take approximately 6-8 business days to reach you and in case of domestic shipping i.e shipping within India it will take approximately 5-7 business days. We make every effort to process your order as quickly as possible. We usually require 5 working days to process your order. However if the quanties ordered are more than 5 pieces per product per style, or in case the item ordered is under production it may take longer to process the order. In such cases we keep you posted through email. All international orders are shipped via DHL which provides delivery within 8-10 business days and our domestic orders are shipped via various domestic shipping partners which provides delivery within 6-8 business days.

    Do you offer expedited shipping?

    No. At this point we are unable to offer overnight or expedited delivery service.

    How is my order shipped?

    All GRAM orders are shipped door to door, via a number of shipping companies within India from our warehouse in Mumbai i, India to your provided shipping address.

    Do you ship backorders?

    No. We aim to keep every item on our website in stock. If there is an item which you purchase and then we realize this item is not available, we will promptly inform you within 2 working days of your purchase and fully refund your money for the out of stock item.

    Will everything ship together?

    Yes. Because we do not process backorders, whatever is in stock will be shipped together. .

    Can I ship different items in my order to different shipping addresses?

    We can only process one shipping address per order. So, if you would like to order several items and ship to different people, please treat these as separate orders. .

    Can my order ship to a Post Office Box?

    No. Since we offer door to door deliveries through our shipping partners therefore you must include full address details including a street address for the shipping address. .

    What are the shipping costs?

    For all international deliveries we offer Free Shipping on all orders US $100 and above. For orders less than US $100 we charge a flat rate of $20. For domestic deliveries i.e deliveries within India we offer Free Shipping on all orders above Rs. 1000. .

    Can I change my shipping address after placing my order?

    Once we receive your order, we take approximately 5 working days to process your order before handing it over to the shipping company. If you would like to change your shipping address for an order which you have already placed, we will try to accommodate your requests if we still have the package in our possession. Please contact us (enquiry@tisserindia.com) with your requested change and we will send you an email reply to confirm if we were able to make the change. If we have already handed your order over to the shipping company then we are unable to make any shipping address changes. Please note that we will not be able to change the address of an order placed for India delivery to International delivery or visa versa since the pricing for India and international deliveries is different from each other.

    Why was my package undeliverable?

    In case of International and domestic shipping the shipping company will attempt delivery 3 times at the delivery address specified by you in the order, before they contact us that your package is not deliverable. If you have not received the package, you can track the package through the Order Tracking facility. If the package status is shown as undeliverable please call the shipping company at their local number and quote your tracking number to trace your package. .

    Here are some reasons why your package may be determined undeliverable by DHL:

    Incorrect Address: GRAM does not take responsibility if the delivery address provided by you is incorrect or outdated. If a package is returned to us because the address is incorrect or outdated we will consider the order status as closes, and no refund will be issued. Please carefully check to make sure that you have supplied a current and correct shipping address. .

    We will try to catch this problem prior to shipping. If a package is returned to us because the address is incorrect or outdated we will consider the order status as closes, and no refund will be issued. Please make sure that you do not supply a Post Office Box address for your shipping address. .

    Failed Delivery Attempts: If you are generally not home during delivery hours, please use a shipping address where someone will be available to sign for the package. If the driver deems it necessary to obtain a signature and has made three delivery attempts, then the package is returned to us as undeliverable. If the package status is shown as undeliverable please call the shipping company's customer service at their local number and quote your tracking number to trace your package. .

    Refused by Recipient: If you are sending a gift to someone and they refuse to accept the package because they think it is being sent to them in error, then the package will be returned to us as undeliverable. By informing your gift recipient that they should expect a package you will help us ensure that they receive your gift. .

    All ofGRAM 's products are handcrafted using the finest natural fibers. The subtle variations in color, texture and finish are the signature of the human hand. Creating each product is a lengthy process rooted in the crafts-based traditions of hand spinning, dying, weaving, wood block printing and embroidery, each with its own regional specialty and character. We use both vegetable dyes and commercial dyes with the goal of minimizing our impact on the environment while striving for the best color properties. For our bleaching process we use only hydrogen peroxide which is totally biodegradable.

    Properties

    Most of GRAM clothing and home furnishings is 100% pure cotton. Handwoven cotton fabric has the added value of allowing more air penetration and is therefore cooler, softer, more absorbent and breathes better than highly uniform, compacted machine made cotton fabric. This added breathability means you will stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Handwoven cotton fabric also has a textural beauty and visible character which is not present in machine made fabric. Khadi fabric is cotton that has been both handspun and handwoven. Cotton is a very strong fiber, even when wet, so it holds up very well to repeated laundering.

    Shrinkage

    During the dyeing and printing processes, the yarn and then the fabric is repeatedly washed. This helps to ensure full dye penetration, removes any residual surface dye and also reduces shrinkage in the final tailored product. Depending on how you care for the product, additional shrinkage ranges from 5-7% for printed fabrics and 7-10% for woven products.

    Laundering

    Please refer to the specific care instructions on the garment. Because cotton is so strong when wet, caring for cotton is very simple and the more you wash it, the softer and more absorbent it becomes. The following tips will help you extend the life of the product.

  • Machine wash cold on gentle cycle.
  • Wash items with like colors and turn your clothes inside out, especially dark colors.
  • Some colours may require to be washed separately the first few times.
  • Keep your zippers and hooks closed to avoid snagging other items in the wash.
  • If you choose to use bleach, use non-chlorine bleach which is less harsh on your fabrics and on the environment.
  • Tumble dry low heat. Remove items promptly from dryer, preferably when still damp.
  • Ironing

  • Press with a warm to hot iron while damp. If the item has dried, use a spray bottle to dampen the fabric.
  • Fabric care for handwoven silk

    Properties

    Select villages in India have been processing the silk threads from "silkworms" or caterpillars for 3,000 years. The various fiber and fabric properties depend on the type of worm or moth, the food that it eats and the way in which the fibers are processed. GRAM uses several varieties of silk, such as tussar and matka, which are indigenous to India and processed and spun by hand without the use of harsh chemicals. For example, tussar silk is a wild silk characterized by an irregular yarn with thick and thin portions, creating a "slubby" or highly textured fabric. The luster and sheen varies from type of silk as well as the texture and the softness of the handle. Overall, silk is the strongest natural fiber, has a beautiful drape and is naturally crease resistant. The drawback of silk is that it loses its strength when wet and therefore needs to be treated gently during laundering.

    Properties

    No one knows with certainty how long people have been spinning and weaving wool, the protein animal hairs, but there is evidence of handwoven wool clothing from 9,000 years ago. The scaly-fiber has many excellent properties, such as resistance to wetting. Ironically, it is also excellent at absorbing perspiration and insulating the skin. Wool has great elasticity and is the most crease resistant of all natural fibers, but is only one third the strength of cotton. Most of the wool which GRAM uses is from local sources and the fibers are handspun which creates a beautiful soft, textural character. Handspun wool varies in thickness which causes the dye to penetrate the yarn at different rates. This creates beautiful natural shading which machine processes have attempted to imitate. However, the subtle variations in texture, color and weave of handspun and handwoven wool fabrics is easily identifiable. Even those who don't know why it is different will recognize there is something special and unique about this fabric.

    Shrinkage

    Wool fibers are covered with tiny scales which causes felting and shrinkage when wet. To avoid felting and shrinkage, wool must be very carefully cleaned.

  • If you choose to hand wash your wool, avoid agitation which causes the scales on the fibers to interlock and felt. Wool is very elastic, so avoid stretching the fabric when wet.
  • If you dry clean, do not store item in plastic bag because wool needs to breathe

    Wool is the most crease resistant of all natural fibers. If you need to remove any wrinkles, you can press the item with a damp cloth and use a steam iron. You can also try hanging the item in the steam from a hot shower.
